Goldenote - S3
The S-3 is latest single ended Dual-Mono solid state stereo integrated amplifier that uses a proprietary Mirror-Amp™ electronic design, enabling the preamplifier section to work as a superior class A amplifier.
The Mirror-Amp™ is a gain stage made with a proprietary cascade differential amplifier with a mirror current, producing a super-linear signal, thus virtually eliminating distortion.
The power supply is handled by three custom made transformers. The two transformers are dedicated to the audio signal, while a smaller galvanically isolated one controls all the functions that could adversary affect the sound of the amplifier, such as the motorised volume control, the checking relays, the power ON led light and even the micro-chip used for electro-mechanical functions.
The S-3 does not have active or passive filters on the audio signal path. We designed four thermal switches to shut-off the amplifier power if it reaches an internal temperature over 80°Celsius (180°Fahrenheit). This feature, while preventing, dangerous operating conditions also enables the amplifier to achieve the very best sonic performance.
To ensure large power capability the S-3 features two precision low noise fans separately powered.
The fans render the amplifier cooler and more stable. The fan’s bearings are of a very low noise kind, but anyway, to avoid environment unwanted swishes they start working smoothly only when internal 50° Celsius (120°Fahrenheit ) are reached increasing the speed proportionally till 80°Celsius (180°Fahrenheit) when the amplifier shuts-off.
The S-3 has a wide inductive and resistance acceptance so it can be matched with a very wide range of audio cables.
The S-3 chassis is made of Steel to minimize RFI and EMI interference while all key components have tight tolerances.
